What is Sugaring

Sugaring is a form of hair removal, an alternative to waxing.

Unlike traditional wax, which contains a lot of resins and chemicals, sugaring uses a ball of paste made of sugar, lemon juice and water. These simple ingredients allow for more efficient hair removal with less irritation.

Also different from waxing which uses a lot of sticks and strips, the ball of paste is used over and over again during your service before being discarded, leading to far less waste.

It's applied at body temperature or slightly warmer, never hot. It only adheres to the hair and dead skin cells making it more exfoliating, cause less irritation and less in-grown hairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doing something new always tends to be a little nerve-wracking. Think of this page as a pep-talk to prepare you for your appointment. You'll enter with less nerves, leave with less hair, and have weeks of extra confidence.

How long does it last?

Every where except underarms can be done every 3-5 weeks. 4 weeks is average. I have several clients who make consistent monthly visits to guarantee they stay smooth year round. Underarms can be done every two weeks. Those suckers grow fast.

Will the hair eventually go away permanently?

As long as you come in regularly during the maintenance period (3-5 weeks) this WILL lead to more permanancy. Overtime the hair will grow back slower and more sparse.

How long do you have to quit shaving
before your appointment?

Two weeks. In order for the sugaring paste to be able to grab the hair, it needs to be 1/4 inch long. So two weeks post shaving it's typically safe. If you need to trim before an appointment keep your hair no shorter than the length of a grain of rice

Is it better than waxing?

I am biased...but yes! Sugaring is much more gentle on the skin than waxing. It is great for women with sensitive skin, a history of breaking out, or are prone to ingrown hairs. I could go on and on with this question.

Can I get sugared on my period?

Absolutely! However, please let me know ahead of time so I can be sure to be extra gentle. Because of the increase blood flow of that area, you will be more sensitive than normal. Please wear a tampon, I can manuever around the string.

I'm pregnant, can I still get a brazilian?

Yes ma'am! It is very common to get Brazillians while pregnant, that belly makes it hard for you to see down there. So let me take care of it for you. Be aware that you may be more sensitive than usual due to the increase of blood flow.

I have sensitive skin & have had reactions to waxing. Will this be better?

This would be a great alternative for you! The sugaring paste is made of only sugar, lemon juice, and water. Unless you are sensitive to any of those ingredients, you should be fine.

Is there anything I should do
before an appointment?

Great question! No shaving at least two weeks prior to your appointment, or trim to the length of a grain of rice. I will trim if you can't. The day of: no exfoliating, no lotions or oils, wear loose clothing, please come clean.

Is it Painful?

We are pulling many hairs out by the root at the same time so there is a certain level if discomfort especially if it is your first time. The first time, we are pulling big roots out of a little hole. But because sugaring is so gentle on the skin, it is less painful than waxing and less irritating.

Where all do you sugar?

Everything! Head to toe, the only hair I can't remove are the nostrils and inner ear. I do only specialize in women's sugaring services.

What's the benefits of sugaring vs. waxing?

I love answering this question. Sugaring: is never hot, pulls with the growth of the hair leading to less ingrown hairs and irritation, it's biodegradable, eco-friendly, free of any chemicals/resins, no strips or sticks, less wasteful, more sanitary (no double-dipping), removed with warm water, and adheres only to hair and dead skin cells meaning more exfoliation, less lifting, and less painful.
